Work starts on the shuttle train from Barcelona-El Prat Airport

The Minister of Development, Ana Pastor, has announced that this Wednesday work will begin on the shuttle train that will link the centre of Barcelona with El Prat airport.

During a visit to the Siemens factory in Cornellà de Llobregat at midday on Monday, Pastor explained that the foundation stone of the project had been scheduled to be laid on Monday, but it had been postponed until Wednesday because the minister had to attend the National Security Council.

Pastor stated that the project “should never have been stopped”, that there is now budget available, and that “it is now a reality.” On the other hand, the minister did not clarify when rail access to the Port of Barcelona will be tendered.
