The planned investment of 7.5 million euros will enable Vopak Terquimsa to expand its storage capacity.
Vopak Terquimsa has started work to expand its terminal located in the port of Tarragona. The planned investment of 7.5 million euros will enable Vopak Terquimsa to have six new tanks which will increase its storage capacity by 13,200 cubic metres, exceeding a capacity of 400,000 cubic metres in Tarragona. This will strengthen the strategic position of the Tarragona terminal in the Western Mediterranean and the company’s position in north-eastern Spain.
With a current capacity of 390,000 cubic metres, the Tarragona facilities are the largest in the company, which also has another 213,000 cubic metres of storage capacity in the port of Barcelona.
The Buenavista project is part of the 2012-2016 strategic investment plan of Vopak Terquimsa and its commitment to the Port of Tarragona, as can be seen in the cumulative investment over this period in Tarragona, which will exceed 19 million euros. With the expansion of the Chemical Dock, Vopak Terquimsa will occupy a third of the 32 hectares that make up the dock, reinforcing its leadership position in the Port of Tarragona. The company’s new terminal in Tarragona is scheduled to be operational early next year.
