The Catalan economy grew 2.4% in the first quarter of 2015

The GDP of the Catalan economy has achieved eight consecutive quarters of quarterly growth.

The growth of the Catalan economy is gaining momentum and getting stronger and stronger. This is the main conclusion of the report produced jointly by Idescat and the Department of Economy and Knowledge, according to which the Catalan economy ended the first quarter of 2015 with a year-on-year variation of 2.4%, five tenths more than in the previous quarter (1.9%), representing quarterly growth of 0.9%. Thus, the GDP of the Catalan economy has achieved eight consecutive quarters of quarterly growth, which has intensified dramatically in the last two years.

During 2014, the recovery of the economy was based mainly on domestic demand and on the very positive evolution of exports of goods and services. The various economic indicators suggest that, during the first quarter of this year, the pattern of behaviour is similar.
