Efficient operations and the cold chain in the transport of pharmaceutical products

Another session of the Air Cargo Commission of BCL was held at the Consortium of the Zona Franca de Barcelona on Thursday April 9.

This time it was related to the pharmaceutical industry and the cold chain. The speakers highlighted the problem that still exists today in the cold chain, and possible options for improvement, either through certification which will involve improving processes and services, solutions for cold chain maintenance and control, or alternative systems.

Public administrations presented the conclusions of one year of application of the new GDP standards, highlighting the key points for their correct application from an administrative point of view. Finally, Laboratories Ferrer made a presentation pinpointing the key points in its medicines logistics, especially by air, and the main challenges that must be solved in order to grow this traffic in Barcelona from Ferrer’s point of view as a user of the service.

The session was a success with over 100 participants and was attended by Mr Francisco Rizzuto (IATA), Mr Andreas Seitz (Dokasch), Ms Griselda Miralles (BDP Frio), Mr Basili Tresserras (Transport Teresserras), Ms Cristina Batlle and Ms Carmen Aramburu (Border Checkpoint), Mr Salvador Cassany (Government of Catalonia) and Mr Josep Vivo (Ferrer Laboratories).
