Barcelona plays host to China’s top CCIC national laboratory group in Europe

The company, which was set up with the support of the city’s Promotion department and Barcelona Activa, offers certification services for industrial and electronic products.

The Chinese government has opened its first China Certification & Inspection Group (CCIC) lab with 100% Chinese capital in Europe.

Located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, this lab joins the operational offices that CCIC has had in Barcelona since 1994 and company headquarters in Bremen, Marseille, Budapest, London and Rotterdam. The Chinese group will invest EUR 4 million in the new laboratory this year alone, creating 10 jobs for qualified personnel.

Here, the company will offer industrial and electronic certification services and technical advice to companies wanting to trade in China. It will also be a point of contact between Western and Chinese firms, helping Asian companies invest in Europe.

Barcelona City Council -via Barcelona Activa- has helped support the lab project via its Directorate of Operations and Promotion and Business Landing services provided by the Business Support Office.

The Mayor of Barcelona, ??Xavier Trias, said the laboratory is a “high-value economic activity representing a commitment by the CCIC group to the Metropolitan Area”; he gave examples of the investments that this Asian country is making in the city.
